God's Wife
by truthlover123 inaccording to scripture, god has a wife -israel.
he is her husband/husbandly owner.. the nation was cast off but jehovah said he would never leave israel.
that being said, jesus spoke of israel as a spiritual nation and the 144,000 to be picked from both israel and the nations (to fulfill the number) who were to be king priests with him.

another business idea for watchtower PLC
by stan livedeath inits been mentioned before---care homes.
in the uk there are a few ( no idea how many ) jireh care homes--loosely connected with the watchtower.. but take this on board.
the dubs are an ever aging customer base.. in the uk, lots of the ageing population end their years in privately run care homes.

in the UK, lots of the ageing population end their years in privately run care homes. if they have plenty of money--or equity in their property--then they pay the fees. but if they dont, having just a pension, then our local authorities pick up the bill..or most of it.
so--the watchtower has an ever growing customer base--with the income guaranteed.
but--on the other hand--the biggest outgoing is the staff cost.
NOOO PROBLEM----think of the pioneers, the door knockers, the cart attendants, the construction volunteers. it wouldnt take too much persuation to get those volunteers to work for nothing where the need is great--in the watchtowewr care homes.
in fact--its a 2 way benefit. the care volunteers get useful on the job training--for an NVQ in social care. for all i know the watchtower care home society can get funding for the training.
"wordly" care homes are often crying out for staff--my wife regularly works 50 hours + a week in a nearby home because of staff shortages.
so--to sum up the business plan.
watchtower forms an arms-length company to use KH sale cash to buy sites to develope as care homes---built with volunteer labour
an ever increasing customer base waiting to buy the service--with fees guaranteed ( in the UK )
a large volunteer workforce ready to get stuck in. like bethel service.

i'll leave it to some other smart arse to think up the spin the society will need to sell the idea to the dubs.

Once bitten, twice shy
by UnshackleTheChains inok. having experienced the jdubs over 27 years.
i have come to the conclusion that sincere people have been 'conned' into the troof, into a 'system' of beliefs that immerses them into an organisation that holds them captive ie no honourble way out without being shunned by friends and family.. having gone through this horrible experience, many are afraid to join another christian group.
it's a bit like someone who trusted someone most of their life only to find that person was a devious lying individual.

i really think in this day and age, anyone still believing in the almighty hole in the sky just havent caught up yet--if they ever will.. i regard them as similar to the flat earth brigade.

Disfellowshipped/disassociated – How did your parents handle it?
by Richard_I into those who were disfellowshipped/disassociated – how did your still-in parents handle it?.
i don’t want to fade, so i am thinking about disassociating soon – i don’t care if i’m playing by the org’s rules, i just want out.. however, i am concerned about how my parents will react.
i don’t want them to become super depressed or whatever due to me leaving the org.. i don’t want them to be hurt by my decision to leave the org, but i feel like there is no way of avoiding this..

i am one of the few who still had close contact with my jw parents. this started in 1981. i had previously resigned as a dub--10 years before. then--in jan 81 it was announced in the hall that i was regarded as apostate and to be treated the same as a d/f person. fine with me--just what i wanted.
life carried on with my parents-- i was their only offspring. some years later i was talking to dad about the shunning side--and he said he could not find any scriptural reason to shun his son. but i think it meant limited responsibilities in his congregation. ( not the same as the one i had previously attended ). so--winners all round ha ha.
years rolled by. mom passed away in 1998, dad lived on till 2016, i visited him several times a week in his care home. his jw grandchildren--and even great granchildren never went near him. he was nearly 95 when he died.
my older son--now 42 was d/f about 10 years back. his mother--a staunch born-in, totally shuns him. so she has never seen her grandson..
this shunning is an evil controll mechanism: fortunately it is interpreted differently according to each individual dubs conscience.

My last Memorial
by Sour Grapes ini missed my first memorial last year in 60 years.
it always amazed me on this special night that the jw's forget how to park their cars in the parking lot.
i would pull in with my wife and there are 5 brothers giving directions on where and how to park my car.

i guess my very last waste of an evening would have been in 1980. i used to attend these pointless dubfests once in a while to keep the wife sweet. but by the beginning of 1981 she had filed for divorce.

If the Watchtower corporation went bust
by Fred Franztone inwhat do you think would happen to jehovah's witnesses as a religion and as a people?.
-
stan livedeath
if watchtower went bust it would probably be bought by the mormon church. 8 million extra bums on seats--thats a lot of contributions.

Scratch:
Theonly memorial that was different to me was the one when I got a hand job.
Was that a bribe or a reward?
